A monument to the 1st and 2nd Mobile Airborne Brigades and the 204th Airborne Brigade, who died during a reconnaissance and diversionary operation in 1942, was unveiled on 5 August 2012.
The 5-tonne sculpture was made from a gabbro boulder by Mikhail Pereyaslavets, a pupil of Lev Kerbel and a sculptor at the Grekov Studio of Military Artists, People’s Artist of Russia, a professor at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Moscow Surikov State Academic Art Institute, and full member of the Russian Academy of Arts.
