The Chapel of St Varlaam of Khutyn was consecrated on January 2005. The new church was designed by engineer V.S. Petrov. The project was initiated by director of the OZMF furniture accessories plant Anatoly Leontyev. The icons for the chapel – Rev. Varlaam of Khutyn, God Almighty, the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, and Intercession of the Holy Mother of God – were painted by the Novgorod artist T. I. Polina.
O.P. Danilov was another local artist who lovingly made the chapel’s fence, a porch, a lantern and bars on the windows. The days of memory of the Reverend Varlaam of Khutyn are celebrated by the Orthodox believers on 19 November and on the first Friday of St Peter's Lent.
