Description
The Pola River is the largest river in the Demyansk District; water from all over the region flows there. The total length of the river is 258 km, including 39 km in the district. The width of the Pola is 150 m above the mouth of the Yavon, and 250 m downstream. Its banks are up to 20 m high, steep, and crossed by ravines. The river was a link on the ancient road from the Volga to the Baltic.
The river offers good opportunities for rafting.
