The Centralised Library System municipal cultural institution of the Demyansk Municipal District
The Rural Public Library (now the Central District Library) was opened in 1882 by order of the District Assembly and was housed at the Rural Council. Currently located at 4 Shkolnaya Street, Demyansk, it is the central district library, with a children's department and 11 rural branches.
The institution’s mission is:
- To implement state policy regarding library services for the region’s population; preserve cultural heritage and create the necessary conditions for people to exercise their right to library services.
- To provide library services in a way that is responsive to citizens’ interests and needs, as well as local traditions.
- To create a single information space.
- To ensure free access to information, knowledge, and culture.
