We invite you to a special one-day tour of Staraya Russa this year - the 200th anniversary of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s birth.
Dostoyevsky first came to Staraya Russa in 1872 and immediately fell in love with its quaint and cosy atmosphere, which stood in stark contrast to St Petersburg, and its spa resort with salubrious air that greatly benefited the health of his children. He loved the city for its people and for the space it afforded him to write his great novels. The itinerary is based on the letters and memoirs of his wife Anna. We will show you Staraya Russa through the eyes of the great Russian writer. Spend a day in the life of Fyodor Dostoyevsky!
Guided by a local history expert, you will visit the main landmarks associated with the life and works of the writer, imbibing the atmosphere of a 19th -century resort city and the setting of the Brothers Karamazov.
