Vladimir Povetkin was a music scholar and restorer, founder of the Novgorod Centre of Musical Antiquities.
He worked on restoring and reconstructing archaeological artefacts, including wooden household appliances and musical instruments unearthed in Novgorod. It was Vladimir Povetkin who restored a unique 11th century gusli, a traditional Russian string instrument, with “Slovisha” written on one of the instrument’s pieces.
