Travel to a miniature country 0+

A new exhibition!  featuring miniature books and literary heroes from the private collections of Lyubov Vasilyeva and Vladimir Varnayev.

The exhibition is open until 4 October 2020 from 10 am to 6 pm, except on Mondays and on the last Wednesday of the month.

Knowledge Day with Onfim 6+

Travel into history on an electric cart with an audio guide. The tours of the southern part of the Novgorod Kremlin are every half hour from 11 am to 7 pm.

11 am:  Visiting Onfim, an interactive tour and a workshop.

12 noon:  Flowers for the Holiday, a workshop on making felt souvenirs.

1 pm:  Mysteries and Secrets of the Novgorod Kremlin, an interactive tour with elements of play.

2 pm: «Волшебная глина».  Magical Clay, a conversation and workshop on making clay toys.

3 pm: «Тайны колокольных звонов». Интерактивная экскурсия с посещением Софийской звонницы.

4 pm: Treasures of the Novgorod Kremlin, a quest on the Archaeological Trail.

Tour of the Old Market with Gottlob the merchant 6+

12 noon and 2 pm on 5 and 12 September: a tour of Yaroslav’s Court and the Old Market with Gottlob, a Hanseatic merchant.

Tickets are available at the museum. Meeting place: map of the Hanseatic League.

Tour of the Kremlin with a State Councillor 12+

12 noon and 2 pm on 6 September: a tour of Sennaya and Sofiyskaya squares and the Novgorod Kremlin, during which you can learn how people lived in the city in the 19th century and what events were held to mark the unveiling of the Millennium of Russia monument.

Walking tours 6+

Daily at 10 am, 12 noon, 3 pm and 5 pm, and on 2 and 9 September at 11 am, 1 pm and 4 pm, you can take a tour of the Kremlin, including the wall-walk and Yaroslav’s Court.

Daily at 11 am, 1 pm and 4 pm, except on 2 and 9 September: tour the Kremlin, climb to the viewing platform of St Sophia’s belfry, and walk around Yaroslav’s Court.

Daily at 2 pm: tour the Kremlin, St Sophia’s Cathedral and Yaroslav’s Court.

Tickets are sold at the museum.

Life in a Novgorod village 0+

Daily at 12 noon and 3 pm:  a highlight tour of the Vitoslavlitsy Museum of Wooden Architecture.

Daily at 12 noon and 2 pm,  except on Tuesdays: workshops on making a talisman doll.

All tours and workshops are available for groups of up to 15 people.

Outbuilding 0+

You can visit the outbuilding of the Vitoslavlitsy Museum to see horses, sheep and goats, take pictures with them, and ride a horse.

Journey with Onfim 0+

Electric cart tours of the southern part of the Novgorod Kremlin every half hour: 11 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm on Tuesday to Friday, and 11 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm at the weekend.

Family visit to a museum 0+

5 September at 12 noon: Unified Kremlin Exam. an interactive tour  of the Kremlin, including to the belfry of St Sophia’s Cathedral. Meeting place: Children’s Museum Centre.

5 September at 3 pm: The Battle of the Neva in 1240, a re-enactment of the battle on a scale model.

6 September at 12 noon: Serebryaniki, a workshop on making a twisted  wire bracelet based on the design of archaeological artefacts.

Cinema Museum: expositions and tours

The museum collection features Soviet and foreign amateur and professional film technology of the 1920s to 1990s, including hundreds of film cameras, film projectors, flatbed editors and other filmmaking accessories. The museum library has books about cinema from 1913 to the 1990s and personal archives of famous actors, cameramen and cosmonauts. The exposition Black and White of the Great Silent Films is dedicated to the history of the cinema of the first half of the 20th century. The exposition I Am a Cinephile covers the history of amateur filmmaking in the Soviet Union. Stars in Kiosks is a collection of postcards and souvenir cards of Soviet cinema actors from the 1930s to the 1980s. Made in the USSR is a brief history of Soviet-made photo equipment. Free group tours. Guests can watch a documentary about the Soviet period in the history of Veliky Novgorod. There is a cache for geocaching fans in the museum.
