On the night of 15-16 May (22-23 May in St Petersburg), museums and exhibition venues will welcome guests of Night in the Museum.

On the night of 15-16 May (22-23 May in St Petersburg), museums and exhibition venues will welcome guests of Night in the Museum. This year’s theme is “More than a museum.” Visitors can learn dancing, attend theatre performances and film screenings, participate in guided tours and workshops, take part in interactive programmes and set out on a costumed journey.

Night in the Museum in the Novgorod Region – Veliky Novgorod
Date 15 May 2021, 8 pm to midnight
Venue 8 Novgorod Kremlin, Veliky Novgorod
Visitors to the Kremlin will see the usual landmarks, exhibits and museum stories in a new light. A workshop on night photography will reveal the tricks of capturing natural light for taking artistic and inimitable pictures. Landmarks will be seen from new perspectives from the window of an electric vehicle.

Night in the Museum in the Novgorod Region – Valdai

The staff of Valdai museums will tell you about the ins and outs of church bell-making technology, perform an evening peal, and take you on a guided tour of Valdai’s history with bells.

Night in the Museum in Kaliningrad

For just 600 roubles you can visit 6 museums with a hundred events specially prepared for the Night. It’s like a 75-year time lapse of the region.
Kaliningrad Cathedral, 1 Kant Street – concerts, a costumed journey, and a music and light show.
Friedland Gate, 30 Dzerzhinsky Street: orchestral improvisations, a laser show and a tram tour of the city.
History and Arts Museum, 21 Klinicheskaya Street: enhanced pictures, workshops and guided tours.
Amber Museum, 1 Vasilevskogo Street: space motifs and Kaliningrad performing bands.
Museum of Painting Arts, 83 Leninsky Prospekt: an interactive programme, a postcard to the future and open air events.
World Ocean Museum, 1 Peter the Great Embankment: meetings with captains, a retrospective and a space DJ set.

Night in the Museum in Pushkin Reserve

The programme includes Mechanics Miracles in Trigorskoye; a night excursion Research and Life at the Pushkin Village Museum; Insight into Historical Chronicles of Abram Petrov’s manuscript manuals Geometry and Fortification; and Leonora Berezhnaya’s Artistic World exhibition in Petrovsky.

The Mikhailovskoye Alexander Pushkin Museum-Reserve prepared a number of thematic programmes for the Night in the Museum. This year’s theme is More than a Museum. Museum staff will tell visitors about how they preserve and enhance not only artefacts but also technical and scientific achievements.

Night in the Museum: Time Machine at the Apatit Museum and Exhibition Centre

Venue 4a, Lenina Prospekt, Kirovsk
The visitors to the museum will travel through time and learn about Vikings’ household items and weaponry, learn sword fencing and as well as Arctic history. Children will be able to make clay figurines and a scratchboard picture. The night will end in a dazzling fire show.

Night in the Museum in the Murmansk Region Arts Museum. Folk lessons

Night in the Museum in the Vologda Region

All the exhibition venues of the region’s Art Museum will join the Night in the Museum. There will be interactive programmes at the exhibition on Oscar-winner animation artist Alexander Petrov; screening of the film Mold, a programme titled Vasily Kandinsky and Glass Painting, a fashion show; the theatrical tour The Memory of the House, as well as concerts, guided tours, and of course, art exhibitions.

The National Museum of the Republic of Komi will join the nationwide event Night in the Museum 2021. Educational and entertainment games, scavenger hunts, workshops, excursions, and re-enactment of magical rituals are awaiting the participants while dance companies will stage an electrifying show.

Night in the Museum in the Leningrad Region

The Tosno Museum is holding the musical interactive programme Those Dacha Revel as part of Night in the Museum. The programme starts with a tour guide of the exhibition Sounds Depicted followed by an interactive programme including playing old-time games, “dacha revels” – high jinks, crambo, puzzle games.
From 6 pm to 8 pm, the Priyutino Estate-Museum, 1 Priyutino, Vsevolozhsk, has evening guided tours with an exclusive programme of “sounding exhibits” from their own collection – a music box and the clockwork Bird in the Cage.
An exhibition, The Sounds of the Provincial Theatre, will open at the Tikhvin Museum at 1, Tikhvinskaya Street, Tikhvin, in honour of a major event in the city’s cultural life – the 100-year old Tikhvin Theatre. Also, a workshop will be arranged for making textile brooches.

Are you fond of historical and military re-enactments? Then visit the military history camp on Artilleriysky Island! Feel the heat and rumble of cannon fire and hear the clanging of swords. You can shoot a bow and a rifle and try on garments of eras long past.

Night in the Museum at the Anna Akhmatova Museum in the Fountain House

What can be more magical than the Fountain House garden during one of St Petersburg’s legendary White Nights? The garden will be transformed into a creative space with several stages featuring a performance by drummers, a thereminvox, a plastic hands theatre show as well as flashmobs.

Sound programmes for Night in the Museum in different corners of St Petersburg’s Kurortny District

From 6 pm to 11 pm, participants will be immersed in the quiet life of dacha residents in Komarovo, listen to the thereminvox at the Shalash Museum, learn about music pieces which were forbidden in the Soviet Union at the Art-Kurort exhibition hall and take in electronic and guitar sounds at the Sarai Museum.
