Young visitors of the museum start to learn the history of Veliky Novgorod here. The unique exhibition uses puppets, pictures and models to show how a medieval city worked through the eyes of a boy called Onfim, who made13th century drawings on birch bark. Entertaining tours, games, concerts with ethnic musical instruments and craft workshops take place every weekend, as well as by special request. Together with folklore characters, children and parents can celebrate the holidays in the folk calendar. This is where Ded Treskun of Novgorod, an ancestor of Father Christmas, lives. He appears on the Fairytale Map of Russia.
