Gate Tower of the Former Marketplace

This two-storied building with two passage arches is a part of a massive complex of the Former Marketplace, which appeared in Ancient Market at the order of Peter the Great in the 1690s. From the observation deck of the Tower, you can see the Yaroslav’s Courtyard and the Kremlin on the opposite bank of the Volkhov River. The monument has an exclusive collection of the artistic composition of metal products of the 11th-19th centuries.

You will find here such Christian antiquities, as crosses, encolpions, pectoral icons, blessing water cups, communion cups, tabernacles, lamps, outside lanterns, and thurifies. The items still dazzle with their beauty and exquisiteness.
