The Museum is located in a unique historic landscape. It offers beautiful views of the St. George Monastery, the Volkhov River, Lake Mjachino and the Rurik’s hill fort. The peasant farmsteads, farm buildings, wooden churches from the 16th-20th centuries were transported to the territory of the Museum from different corners of the Novgorod region. Those households and buildings contain expositions telling us about seasonal, household and festive life of the Novgorod peasantry. You can meet artisans and merchants on the village streets, and festivities held there during holidays. The most exciting part for children would be the Farm Yard with domestic animals. There you can ride a horse, par- ticipate in workshops for the care of goats, sheep, and poultry.
