The gallery on the main square of the city is a three-storied mansion which once belonged to the provincial Assembly of nobility. The gallery sections cover all artistic movements and styles of the 18th-20th centuries in Russia.
Visitors are offered to enter the world of such famous painters as B. Borovikovsky, F. Rokotov, I. Repin, I. Kramskoi, M. Dobu- zhinsky, I. Aivazovsky, A. Benois, N. Roerich, v. Vasnetsov.
There are paintings with history, which once decorated noblemen’s estates and offices of Russian emperors.
The museum is particularly proud of its unique collection of the portrait miniatures. Interior sculptures and elegantly decorated weapons complement the exposition. Inside the museum, there is a salon where souvenir copies of masterpieces and works of contemporary artists can be purchased.
