Russia’s only museum whose collection includes bells from virtually every corner of the world. The exhibits feature a wide variety of shapes from the 3rd century BC to the Middle Ages and up to contemporary souvenir bells. Children and young people can use a touch screen to enjoy games where they can harness a troika of horses or cast a bell, also a virtual one (you cannot put it in your pocket but you can email it to a friend or to yourself as a keepsake). An interactive scale model of Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral in St Petersburg is of special interest. You can see all three levels of the bell tower and hear the sounds of different bells – carillon, clock and church bells.
