The Pola House of Folk Arts and Crafts is a branch of the district network of state culture and recreation centres established in 1992.
The club works to preserve and popularise local traditions and rituals. It offers craft classes and programmes to introduce children to traditional folk culture. There are traditional seasonal events and dedicated programmes on household and craft culture.
Many old customs are worth retaining in modern life, both rural and urban. Traditions from past centuries are fascinating, unique and beautiful.
The weaving club plays a special role in the centre’s activities. The so-called traditional Rhombus Technique dominates Russian hand weaving in the Polavsky region. A rhombus with a strip in the middle woven into the product means the weaver’s skills have been passed on to an apprentice.
