The Derzhavin estate in Zvanka – a cultural landmark of the Chudovsky Municipal District – is a treasure not only for Novgorod but for the entire country. Locals hold the great Russian poet sacred. It is enough to mention the Derzhavin Readings, which have taken place in Chudovo since 1993. During the Derzhavin Readings, cultural figures speak about the life and work of Gavriil Derzhavin, as well as his role in Russian literature. They hold different events based on his writings – research and practical conferences, literature and music celebrations, festivals, concerts and club meetings.
