Anichkov Evgeny Vasilievich
Literary historian, critic, folklorist, prose writer.
Literary historian, critic, folklorist, prose writer. From 1895 he was Privatdozent at Kyiv University, from 1901 he headed the Department of the History of Western Literature. Since 1903 - professor at the St. Petersburg Psychoneurological Institute, assistant professor at St. Petersburg University, teacher of higher courses for women. In 1901, together with M.M. Kovalevsky took an active part in the founding of the Russian Higher School in Paris. He lectured at Oxford University on Slavic folklore and comparative mythology. The main works of Anichkov are devoted to Slavic folklore and the reflection of mythological elements in literary works: "Spring ritual song in the West and among the Slavs" (1903), "Paganism and Ancient Rus'" (1914). He is the author of literary collections: "Literary Images and Opinions" (1904) about the work of M. Gorky, L. Andreev, V. Bryusov, K. Balmont and others. After the revolution - in exile. He was a professor at the University of Belgrade (1920-1925), Skopje (since 1926). Yevgeny Vasilyevich was born in the family estate of Zhdani, Borovichi district. This is an old estate on the right bank of the Msta (opposite the current village of Volgino). Already after the Great Patriotic War, the remaining dilapidated buildings of the estate were transferred to the Volga Tannery and gradually destroyed to the ground.
