Church of St. Simeon the God-Receiver At Zverin Convent

This small temple was built during the black plague in 1466.

It is famous for its unusual paintings of the 15th century made by local craftsmen of Archbishop’s courtyard. These are calendar illustrations created according to the Afono-Jerusalem protocol. One should «read» the painting clockwise, starting from the 1st of September. 430 figures, depicting Saints, represent days and months of the year. Here, every visitor can request a prayer to his Saint and enjoy the view of the magnificent frescoes. Similar frescoes have been preserved only in Romania.
