The observation deck crowns a 25 m tower built on the Novgorod Region’s highest point.
To the east lies the Valdai Upland, one of the most scenic locations of the Great Russian Plain. It is here that the Novgorod Region’s highest points are located, including Mount Ryzhokha (296 m) and Mount Orekhovna (288 m).
The Great Russian Plain watershed traverses the Valdai Upland with rivers running both north and south from it. The glacier receded from this territory only recently, in geological terms, which explains the indistinct contours of the riverbeds, the terraces and flood plain, and quite a few rapids.
